It all comes down to what is more important to you, low cost, loud sound or minimal space used. You can have 2 of the 3, but you're not going to be able to have all 3 most likely.

And ya I know.... not happy about it lol
But if you look at what Beaner designed, he found a nice way to make a false floor, protect the subs and have a relatively flat surface.
