They look pretty good.... I am sure they are coated to protect the untreated surface from rusting till they get to the customer... a good brake cleaner should take care of that... the black coating having chips/wear spots on brand new rotors would tick me off a little.... they should be packed so that dosent happen....

Once you de-grease them they should work wonderfully....
