If the modified OEM fob, which has a very short range on it, was used it would not be much good at all due to the limited range.
If you have to go out into the cold to start the car and then come in and wait for it to warm up it would defeat the purpose in my opinion.
I didn't think about it, but this is true, my car won't lock the doors from more than about 20 feet away.

It's still nice to have it warm up without a key left in it, but it would definitely be preferable to have it have more distance than what I'm getting for the door locks.
