Ok, I understand now.

Mine is a two-handed operatoin, but not because there is anything hard about it, I just don't want the sensor in the frame to be "shocked" by slamming the top down on it.

Is there somethign unlubricated in the top on your car? Maybe those hinges in the top the move and flex as you attach or UN-attach the top from the frame??
