Blackie, I say go for it. You may never get a chance at that "dream" car.
Crossfires will be around for a while and relatively cheap. You can always come back when the itch is over.
Old cars are fun and yes work, but often worth it.
I do miss my '57 T Bird. Walked past it in the garage for 15 years when somebody else owned it. Did the same thing for 10 more when I owned it.
But I can say, with pride and pleasure, that once, I owned one.
