Some can afford more than one toy unfortunately I can only afford one. This Sunday I am riding with a friend of mine who owns a Cobra to a Cobra club breakfast. I've never riden in one, driven one. I'm sure I'll get an earful about trying to build a kit. His is a Factory 5. There are a number of Cobra reproductions out there, the Super Performance being my favorite but its way out of my price range. And to answer Winston's question "does your dream car have a Forum like this one?" Yes. Just about any performance oriented car has a forum of like minded enthusiasts.
A few years ago my wife and I were out on a Saturday afternoon. We were coming down the inside lane of a three lane highway and I caught the sound of a high performance engine out of my left ear. When I saw what it was in my rear view mirror (a Cobra) I got a huge grin on my face (you know how we all talk about the Crossfire perma grin ?). It shook our car as it went by. My wife asked "what's with the goofy grin?" what she couldn't see were the goosebumps on my arm.
The car does have a forum like this.... just not as active with people because there are not that many cars. I have been lingering around that forum. I have also done my research on the car. This is a major decision and I want to do it. I plan on doing it. I may just need to wait a few months first before I make the purchase.

As for the Cobra... I understand your love for the car. My dad loves the Cobra and would like to buy one. He has been drooling over them for years. I personally like the car but I don't drool over them. My love is somewhere else Each person is different. But I do understand where you are coming from.... and I respect that. If I told you what my dream car was you would probably not be impressed. To each his own!

The fact... life is short! I could be gone tomorrow. I am still 35 and don't plan on leaving this world anytime soon.... but you never know what the plan is because it is out of our control. One day before I die I would like to say I owned my dream car. It may be a 30 year old car and doesn't drive as well as the crossfire. It may have blind spots and not be as comfortable as the crossfire. But I want in anyway.... and will enjoy driving it.

Wish you the best in whatever you decide. Be glad you have your youth, You got about 10 more cars to go if you go at the same rate I did! This will probably be my last Toy car so I have to make it special.

Time rolls relentlessly along. You've already waited 20+ years and you ain't getting any younger. One day soon you'll be sitting around in a rocker telling some other old buzzard about the car you always wanted but never got. I'd rather tell the story about the car that suckered me in and was just a money pit then tell the story about the chance not taken.

Thanks Boiler, you showed me that one. When and if will be this time next year and one of the decisions I have to make is to build one or buy an existing car. I guess I'll know more about that after I visit with my friend who built the Factory 5 this Sunday. The build book is 500 pages. I was lucky enough to catch a couple of episodes of one of the Saturday morning car shows where they built the Factory 5 hot rod which is basically the same thing as their Cobra kit. A lot of tidbits and suggestions that they don't go over in the build book. If I build one I'm sure it will be at least a two year project.
Amen Uncle Al -life's way too short!
