I'm sure I'll get an earful about trying to build a kit. His is a Factory 5. There are a number of Cobra reproductions out there, the Super Performance being my favorite but its way out of my price range. And to answer Winston's question "does your dream car have a Forum like this one?" Yes. Just about any performance oriented car has a forum of like minded enthusiasts.
A few years ago my wife and I were out on a Saturday afternoon. We were coming down the inside lane of a three lane highway and I caught the sound of a high performance engine out of my left ear. When I saw what it was in my rear view mirror (a Cobra) I got a huge grin on my face (you know how we all talk about the Crossfire perma grin ?). It shook our car as it went by. My wife asked "what's with the goofy grin?" what she couldn't see were the goosebumps on my arm.
The car does have a forum like this.... just not as active with people because there are not that many cars. I have been lingering around that forum. I have also done my research on the car. This is a major decision and I want to do it. I plan on doing it. I may just need to wait a few months first before I make the purchase.
As for the Cobra... I understand your love for the car. My dad loves the Cobra and would like to buy one. He has been drooling over them for years. I personally like the car but I don't drool over them. My love is somewhere else

Each person is different. But I do understand where you are coming from.... and I respect that. If I told you what my dream car was you would probably not be impressed. To each his own!
The fact... life is short! I could be gone tomorrow. I am still 35 and don't plan on leaving this world anytime soon.... but you never know what the plan is because it is out of our control. One day before I die I would like to say I owned my dream car. It may be a 30 year old car and doesn't drive as well as the crossfire. It may have blind spots and not be as comfortable as the crossfire. But I want in anyway.... and will enjoy driving it.
