These "performance chips" are just resistors for a computers electrical current. From what I read in the past, they trick your ecu into thinking the air is colder, thus more dense. The ecu then compensates by delivering more fuel. More fuel means bigger bangs in the cylinder which means more power. I also read that they wreak havoc on the electrical circuit. In the end, they are not worth it.
