About a day or two ago my girlfriend complained of a light squeal coming from the engine bar on start up. Which would last until warm or when the car was put into gear. Last night the car got real loud and the temp gauge flew up and overheated. Causing the usual coolant overflow and steam...

After letting cool and refilling coolant we started the car and that squeal was abnoxiously loud. I was able to drive it to the dealer with no problems. The dealer said there was no "recall" for a fan on the vin so im assuming he ment it was already done?

The cars a 2005 Limited with 38k. I thought it sounded like a bad tensioner pulky but i dont believe that would cause an overheat. Possible bad water pump?

Edit: i started the car and put the ac on.. seemed like the fan was working properly.
