Why did I choose this engine? Power potential, tons of aftermarket support, cost effective, light weight, familiarity, and it fits with very little modification. The only reason the 4G63T has gotten bad reliability reports is because of 7bolt Crank walk/thrust bearing failure, balance shaft belt failures which cause timing belt failure and skimping on timing belt replacement parts and having the hydraulic tensioner fail. I have eliminated the balance shafts, have all new oem timing parts, and 6 bolt motors generally don't have thrust bearing failures. I beat on my Talon for 3 years at almost double the factory boost with over 100k miles with only one mechanical issue before I gave it to my brother. The seals in the throttle body broke and started to leak.
