Yea, I used to think the thrill of space travel was the launch. Maybe it is... but the VIEW ranks right up there, too.
I admit it DOES strike me that life, other than the life in the sea (or underground - which probably does not go that deep) is found within the few miles of atmosphere on ONE planet in the solar system - not likely anywhere else in this solar system.
We are a sea of life in an ocean of, well, unliving "stuff".
Space travel has fascinated me since the days of Apollo - I was 9 when they landed first on the moon and I have waited almost 40 years to get my questions answered about how they did it, what it was like, etc.
