Actually, Mercedes indicated that the paper elements are good for 10k miles, and the fleece elements are good for 15k mile intervals, for their products using the FSS system.

Since its the same engine, it stands to reason that the same intervals apply to the Crossfire. Paper filters good for the full 7k mile interval. Fleece if you want to go further, or don't mind spending more money.
