The reason that it lowers the value is that short of doing a "frame off," it is impossible to do it right. To any auto professional a color change on a vehicle look like a group of meth heads were tweaking & took to with paint rollers (I actually had that happen once). No matter what you say the vehicle looks like it was in a major accident.

Really good show quality paint done "right" can cost $15k easy if you are changing colors. Big number & you can buy another car for that. Plus when you make a vehicle TOO personal - you limit the future buyers for the vehicle. Its like painting your house lime green with brown spots all over it. You might be a huge fan of frogs but who else would really want to own that.
