One of the guys at the SPACEPORT did the math...
Granted it wasn't a smooth deceleration, assuming he was going 70mph, it would have taken just over a half a second at a deceleration rate of about 5.5g to come to rest.
At 100 mph, it would have taken 0.408s at 11.2g to come to rest.
All of the above is quite survivable.
You know, the way the hood crumpled deflected the wood mounts away and kept them from penetrating the windshield.
