I worked a steel mill site in Perth Amboy, NJ for 19 months a few years back. Always struck me as odd that gas had to be pumped by an attendant. But, just like "too many cooks spoil the stew", having the same individual or limited individuals pump gas at a station kept the spills down & minimized risks of fires. Maybe it's not such a bad idea!
