OK, to answer the questions, here is a bit more to the story:
This happened on a Friday at about 5:00 P.M. I called the Chrysler towing number (they are in Miami Florida, by the way) and a tow truck appeared in about 45 minutes. While I was waiting, I called my dealer to ask if they were going to be around when we arrived (no later than 6:15 P.M.). The person on the phone said they were leaving at 6:00 P.M. but I could just leave it outside. I was not happy with that, so I had it towed to my house. On Monday I called the service department to find out when they wanted the car towed to the dealership. She said she would call me back. 1 hour later, she called to tell me that it was going to take 20 days to get the parts, and that there was no reason to tow the car there until the parts came in. It was a long 20 days walking past my car in the garage....
After the car was fixed, I received the usual phone call about "were you happy with the repair", and I said I would like to talk to the owner of the dealership. We had a long conversation. He agreed that I should have been able to have the car towed directly to the dealership, and that someone should have waited the 15 minutes for me to get there and put the car inside the service area. I now have his cell phone number, in case I get the run around ever again.
So the first tow was paid by D/C. The second tow was paid by insurance.
I have rental car coverage with insurance. When the adjuster came by on Monday afternoon, he had already arranged a loaner car from Enterprise. I never thought to ask about a car from D/C. That will never happen again.
Insurance is going up because of this accident, and because I got a speeding ticket right after I got the car back, which I mentioned in the "drive it like you stole it" topic. I guess the fact that it is the first ticket in over 8 years does not make any difference. Plus I think they finally figured out what a Crossfire is and adjusted the rates at renewal time. My rate had only gone up $20.00 when I bought this car and traded in my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
I also wish I had known about calling Michellin and getting the tires at a discount.
I will put most of this in the "live and learn" column.
But all this is water under the bridge. No one was hurt, the car is runnig perfectly, and I am a happy man, because I really like driving this car!!!!!
