Default Tires-

:( Hit pot hole. cut two tires, one front, one rear. NO replacements available anywhere at any price. Now have rental car paid by Chrysler until they can find two tires for me. What nerve, selling a car with no tires available for it.

Forget going through your Chrysler dealer. Click on the TireRack ad that displays at the top of the page. They will have cheaper prices than your Chrysler dealer including shipping. Plus theirs will be in stock. If the ad isnt there, try refreshing your browser a few times until iit shows.

I had to have a punctured rear tire fixed. It was $65.00. My tire insurance will reimburse me though. When I was at the tire shop getting it fixed they had Pilot tires on hand. $320 for the rear and $249 for the fronts. When I got the puncture I called the dealer and they sent me to our local performance tire dealer.

WMichaels,

Took #2815 to the dealers yesterday to have them work on the first gear problem. First thing they said was check out your rear tire. I picked a large bolt close to the siderwall... can't fix it.

Where did you purchase tire insurance? I can see right now it's somehing I need down here.

Discount Tire here in Arizona offers tire insurance when you purchase tires from them... and they are very good about replacing a tire even when I cut a sidewall on the Jeep while out four wheeling. I have my doubts about them working on a 19" high performance rim and tire tho.

I got it through the dealer when I bought the car. I didn't drive the Crossfire today, so when I get home I'll get the info. for you. It's with the owner's manual in the glovebox.

Sorry to hear about the puncture. Not fun.

Thanks, I'll check into it.

Three weeks after I bought my car, I was on my way back to my office from a customer site. A pickup truck in front of me had too much of a load of construction debris. He hit a bump in the road, and a few bricks slid off the truck. I was boxed in by another car, and had nowhere to go and no time to do anything. I ran over one of the bricks, and blew out the right front and right rear tires, along with ruining both of those wheels. Of course he never even slowed down, and it happened too fast to get a license number.

It took D/C three weeks to get the wheels and tires.

Here was the cost breakdown to insurance:

18" wheel 447.00
19" wheel 502.00
18" tire 282.00
19" tire 470.00
mount and balance 2 tires 28.00
4 wheel alignment 70.00
tow to dealership 55.00
rental car for 21 days 630.00
OH sales tax 130.00

Total 2,614.00

I have $500.00 deductible.

The four real bummers out of this:

1. My insurance is going to go up about $400.00 per year, starting in February

2. I had to drive a POS Saturn as a rental.

3. I would rather have spent the $500.00 on a road trip.

4. I was without my car for 21 days!!!!

Also, the first car I ever bought was a 1973 Mustang Mach 1. It cost me $4,000, fully loaded. It is really amazing that 30 years later, it costs $2,000 for two wheels and tires......

Wow, talk about tough luck!!! I thought we were bad on road hazrds down here.

Why is your insurance going up so much? Mine went up only a few dollars.

You're dealer didn't provide a loaner?

On the bright side... it only gets better.

Chrysler provides free towing during the life of your 3 year/36k mile warranty.

OK, to answer the questions, here is a bit more to the story:

This happened on a Friday at about 5:00 P.M. I called the Chrysler towing number (they are in Miami Florida, by the way) and a tow truck appeared in about 45 minutes. While I was waiting, I called my dealer to ask if they were going to be around when we arrived (no later than 6:15 P.M.). The person on the phone said they were leaving at 6:00 P.M. but I could just leave it outside. I was not happy with that, so I had it towed to my house. On Monday I called the service department to find out when they wanted the car towed to the dealership. She said she would call me back. 1 hour later, she called to tell me that it was going to take 20 days to get the parts, and that there was no reason to tow the car there until the parts came in. It was a long 20 days walking past my car in the garage....

After the car was fixed, I received the usual phone call about "were you happy with the repair", and I said I would like to talk to the owner of the dealership. We had a long conversation. He agreed that I should have been able to have the car towed directly to the dealership, and that someone should have waited the 15 minutes for me to get there and put the car inside the service area. I now have his cell phone number, in case I get the run around ever again.

So the first tow was paid by D/C. The second tow was paid by insurance.

I have rental car coverage with insurance. When the adjuster came by on Monday afternoon, he had already arranged a loaner car from Enterprise. I never thought to ask about a car from D/C. That will never happen again.

Insurance is going up because of this accident, and because I got a speeding ticket right after I got the car back, which I mentioned in the "drive it like you stole it" topic. I guess the fact that it is the first ticket in over 8 years does not make any difference. Plus I think they finally figured out what a Crossfire is and adjusted the rates at renewal time. My rate had only gone up $20.00 when I bought this car and traded in my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

I also wish I had known about calling Michellin and getting the tires at a discount.

I will put most of this in the "live and learn" column.

But all this is water under the bridge. No one was hurt, the car is runnig perfectly, and I am a happy man, because I really like driving this car!!!!!
