The broadcast in question was not from this year's RM Auctions in Scottsdale, but rather from their 2006 auction at the same location. The car sold was the one shown at
RM Auctions (you might have to click one of the numbers further down as the images aren't coming up). The price shown on that web page, $3,190,000, includes buyers premium so the $2,900,000 price mentioned by Kodebuster was the hammer price.
RM did sell a '33 Sport Phaeton this year in Arizona at $1.76 million (obviously not the same car at all!) and nothing in that price category for a Packard at Amelia recently. I was at the Scottsdale auction (we sponsor the RM Auctions as well as Barrett and Russo & Steele) but I was not in attendance at Amelia Island. Pity.
Yep this was the one, $2.9 mil at the hammer, plus the buyers vig.
It was Blue, and I thought they said 1 of 5 built.
