It was very well planned out and that strip of cedar goes from the door to the dash and the steering wheel happens to be in that strip. In this particular case, the contrast steering wheel may have actually made the cabin look too busy.
Chrysler changed the steering wheel color on the Roadsters that had the Vanilla/Charcoal interiors, the 2005 with that color combo had the vanilla steering wheels, then I think in 2006/07/08 they changed to a charcoal colored wheel. It was more practical, the charcoal, and did not take away from the interior combo. Congrats on the great color combo, one of the rarer combos that were built.
