most of the time the ring and pinion do not get damaged ,,when apart look for any chips or metal missing i went through 3 rearenda with the 6, and none of the R & p were damaged,, one i wasn't sure if it got warped so i didn't save it. the others were sent back to Chrysler, but they were good the R & P that is ,, one broke a pin, and side gears,,,one the pin took out the housing, and #3 broke into peaces,, the axles frose into the diff ,,100 ton press could not pull them out, so the diff and the pumpkin went back, rear and axles were new. jim
