Excellent tip on disconnecting the monitoring port connector! After the lower console is off, slide the top of the housing toward the center of the car and the connector pops right out!

FYI -- on the hood release, I had to open (operate) the lever, and turn it 90 degrees to get it to pass up through the console. After removing more screws under there than the 2006 FSM describes.
