I understand a dirty filter makes the fuel pump work harder, and that's usually the reason the fuel pump goes bad.
Besides running with the gas tank too empty.
Rob has the filters. i think they're $40. Super easy to change since you don't have to drop the gas tank to do it. Look under your car. You'll see it's not far from the gas tank.
