You can weed out the scammers by expressing interest, pretending to be naive, and ask about the car. When they reply, ask if they have the title in-hand and to send you a fax/scanned copy. When you start hearing their life stories about how they are getting divorced, in the army, transferring to Guam or whatever, and not answering your DIRECT question, you have scammer on your hands. Just keep asking the same questions. Pretty soon, you will hear crickets..... and get no replies.
