Talking Driving Miss Daisy, this aint

Ok I have done the driving thing on the wavetec rear and its interesting. There are no bugs that I have found so far and the races at autocrossing will occur on Saturday if I don’t melt in the 99 degree Washington heat.

Driving, well that is going to be a special time for those that don’t know how to drive. This rear is like my phantom grip and both tires pull on a hard take off BUT THIS IT A BIT MORE LIKE A POSI REAR. BEWARE.

Driving a posi hard will teach you humility quickly if your not THINKING about what your doing. Since both tires turn more or less together and if one spinning so is the other. That means that you have NO DIRECTIONAL STABILITY. Like a 4 wheel drive with spinning tires, you go any way not where you may think. The crossfire in a straight will pull better and crab a bit sideways which must be controlled. If your in a turn and nail it you can go sideways and ROUND in a hurry, faster than youd think.

I punched it in a hard turn from a complete stop and yes it started coming around pretty quick. From a hard start on the original tires, I got lots of smoke and a bit of a sideways drift which is probably due to differences in tire inflation. This is what I was looking to get so I could drift in turns and increase the rate of rotation thru the corner.

Bottom line it was about 9 hours to pop and reinstall the rear. I believe that it is worth it, Saturday will tell. I also have a nice short video of the way MY crossfire revs from 2000 to over 5000 on the lift, scary to me how fast it raps up, but again this is what I wanted to have – bottom end power thanks in part to Robs assistance and support. I have lots of work to keep me doing things other than car stuff but Ill get the utube soon as a video.

Photos are not what I was expecting from a high def camera so I took additional photos using another camera for follow up shots, again to be posted later. Enjoy, Woody

Here is a link as the photos wont load into the thread.........again. Youll have to go thru the album to see the steps and stuff, be well.

Go out and enjoy the rear but heed the warning of the rear coming around - - FAST.
