The only problem I'm having is getting the (driver's side) brake light socket screwed back into the hole in the plastic???

I never dreamed I'd have a problem....when I took it out I just twisted 1/4 turn or so, replaced the bulb & now (isn't much wire length) I can't get the socket to screw back in???/

Is there a trick?
