Default Brake Light Socket

The only problem I'm having is getting the (driver's side) brake light socket screwed back into the hole in the plastic???

I never dreamed I'd have a problem....when I took it out I just twisted 1/4 turn or so, replaced the bulb & now (isn't much wire length) I can't get the socket to screw back in???/

Is there a trick?

They didn't waste any money on extra wiring in that harness. Three 10 milimeter nuts take the whole lamp assembly out where you can see what you are doing and the socket is easily returned to the original location.
