All I can add is, if we hadn't been able to open it through the light, then the only alternative was to let Chrysler do it, and they had quoted me 5 to 6 hours labor at 85 dollars an hour. They were going to take out the seats, take out the back panel, then drill though some rivets to try to open the latch, then "Attempt to open the trunk". I'm sure they were planning on pulling that emergency release as well.
They were pretty plain in the fact that we were paying the labor even if they couldn't get the trunk opened, plus an additional 90 dollars diagnostic charge. plus what ever parts were needed of course.
Mercifully it didn't come to that. My husband said I should drive my car back to the dealership and tell them their mechanic should sign up for this forum!!
