Any system like this is only as good as the data suppled and who keys it in. The error could go on for years as the part will be ordered by people who know it's wrong and they will not tell the supplier of the error. Others will not buy one after being told it does not fit and go elsewhere.
You could tell a clerk but the computer is deaf to any complaint, progress I guess.
