Excellent suggestion to use fogs as day-time-running-lights (DRL's). There are a number of DRL relay kits on the market, and YES you would save a lot of time and effort by not taking wiring into the cabin.

As a kicker, fogs lights look great as running lights, and all of the lil' 'ol ladies will see you coming.
