Personally I would never buy a car without driving it or seeing it in the flesh. Also these prices you are talking about sound like garage prices not private sales - just keep your eye on Autotrader etc. I just checked and there are 57 Roadsters on Autotrader from £4500 - 12000 so quite a choice.
