Perhaps you'll feel better after what I'm about to say. I was told if the ring to pinion clearances were off it would break the first time down the 1/4 mile. I made 20 passes and have run a few track days. So it seems to be the bearings. I'd hate to replace them and still have noise. Was your differential low on oil like mine?
