Re: Climate Controlled Winter Storage - Worth it?
I store the Harley in a heated place for 5 months out of the year. Just costs me $125. The cars get my garage which I keep at 55. I have a garage heater in case I want to do some work out there, so we can bump it up from time to time. Johnny is right about driving your car in and out of heated garages in the winter. Since leaving the other 3 drivers outside all winter, there isn't a rust problem at all as long as you find yourself a place that not only washes the outside but sprays the underside as well. We have a touchless car wash nearby that does just that, and I have access to our truck wash bay for doing it myself. Both cars and the bike have battery tenders. I put gas additive in the bike as it won't be fired that often. I use to fog the bike when it was cold storage, but not for heated. I don't use additive in the XF's because I have to move them and drive them when I can. No flat spotted tires, and no moisture build up if you can at least warm them up, and drive them for a few miles when the roads are clear.
