talk with the senior engineer resolved it - or at least let me know that my concerns are important and will be addressed. The rest of that day confirmed it enough that a co-worker even noticed that something had changed.

So, here I sit, in a Holdiay Inn in Harrisburg, PA - tomorrow I visit a coal-fired power plant and continue my assimilation into my new job.
