Not trying to school you or anyone else. And, I'm not nearly the Vette fan you are. I've owned two (C4 & C5) and will probably never own another one. I don't like the driving position or the interior quality. Tried it once. Gave it a second chance. Not feeling the love. They are fine cars but I feel claustrophobic in the Vette due to the poor forward visibility.
Oh, and my sympathies on the F-body purchase.

To be kind, those things were.....well.....ummm.....primitive.
I'm just truly amazed with what GM has been able to do the the "old" pushrod engine technology. I think it's funny that twenty years ago GM was looked down on for not having gone the DOHC route like all of their competitors. Now, I'd put their LS engine series up against any production engine. The things are compact, lightweight, rev as well as they need to, have a broad flat torque curve, make gobs of power, carry their weight low, are reliable, easy to maintain, and......are more fuel efficient than they have a right to be. If you don't stick one in a 4,000 lb Camaro (or 3,800 lb GTO) that is.
I haven't driven Ford's new 5.0 Coyote engine yet and I suspect that would be more to my liking with it's DOHC, 4 valve heads, variable timing, high compression, and high revving personality. I love NA engines that make peak power at high revs. Don't hate me blower fans.
