Stock means original intake in the car. Your car really woke up with the custom (ChuksWings) CAI.

Mini, You are of course 100% technically correct. A car with a Needs Wings shouldn't be considered "stock". It's a documented fact that it alone will cut nearly 1/2 a second off a NA's 1/4 mile. (not sure how much on a SRT).
But essentially it's nothing more than a better executed air delivery system, with a less restrictive air filter, than what the very restrictive factory design offers..
40 years ago, you could run any type of air cleaner you wanted on your car at the drags and still be considered legal under "Pure Stock" rules. For the most part, everybody ran without an air filter element, or simply a velocity stack on their carb, just to smooth out the air flow. (Which the NeedsWings does so well). Some guys even ran 4" diameter cloths drier hoses from scoops mounted under their front bumpers (like the W30 442 offered) into their air cleaner housings, and track officials would let it pass in "STOCK" class.
Going by what I just said, I wonder if I went to the Drags now a days with this on my engine,

I wonder if the track officials would let me run "Pure Stock" class, if there even is such a thing anymore?

All i was doing was tryijg to share my fun story. Didnt want to start a 'whos faster when stock' thread. I dont really care if the other car is faster. A few weeks ago i saw an f430 on the highway and tried to get him to move as well and he didnt budge. Saw a second ferrari, only this looked like an 02 maranello. He wouldnt bite either.

Ummm.....that would be the 04 GTO.....LS1 5.7L engine ...350 HP...365 lb/ft. Not the 400/400 LS2 6.2L in the 05/06
.Odd that a 3,800 lb car with a 6.2L engine
........
Dude.....you need to get your facts straight. If you owned one for 3 years you would know that they didnt come with ANY 6.2L engine. LS2's are 6.0's.....LS3's are 6.2L. LS3 was not an offering in the GTO. And as you can see from my quoting you, this was not a one time typo either

And then you went on to tell us you have had a C4 and a C5.....so one would think you might be in tune with GM powerplants, seems to be not the case. Im pretty sure you sir are full of it.

You got me cowboy. Yer a reglar Surelock Holmes. Jeez what a bunch of fluckin fanbois. Sorry I forgot it was 6.0. It was an LS2, OK? Car's been gone since 2007. I also owned an 04 Yukon Denali from 04-07, another GM small block V8.

So believe whatever you want. SRT6 smokes em all. It's GOD's car! 10 second quarters with a cold air intake. Why is Texas so full of shiithead jerk Rick Perry clones? Is it the weather?

You seem like a d-bag. I'm sure it has nothing to do with which state you come from. Finally found a good use for "add user to ignore list".

jjeling, glad you enjoy the car. Just try to be safe on open roads. In my case, Florida has this awesome law that forfeits your car if caught street racing. So, yeah, just be careful.

I just thought it was funny....thats all. I never said the SRT6 was anything did i? Ive had mine for like 3 months modded it and am trying to sell it already. Never said it was a rocketship bud. Texans are proud of their state.....no other way to put it

I knew this would end up a pissing match. I tried out a new GTO some time ago, 6.0 6 speed. The manual was hard to shift, at least in a race mode shifting. It was as quick as any small block Chevy in it's class...and remember it is N/A. They aren't going to stay with an SRT6 out of the hole. I have driven both hard when stock... The Goat might, and I say might real back in...but I would doubt it. The only Chevy small blocks that have given me any trouble while T/Ting have been SC'd or TC'd...not counting any Nitrous cars... But, they all do seem to gain some ground after mid track. I hope I am taking care of that problem with the new mods to the coupe. These were all against my roadster....the coupe has yet to see any track time. You have to mod a small block Chevy, just like you have to mod an SRT6 to get any real power out of them. But I will give the nod to the SRT6 out of the hole....stock... 350 Chevys heavily modded...well, they have me mid to late track in most cases, depending on the driver.....

I didnt mean for it to turn into this....i just wanted to share some fun. There was no intent to debate which car was faster. It was actually more fun that it was a dead heat on city streets in an uncontrolled environment. Just the two days before that i ran into an f430 and a ferrari maranello and neither of them bit. Im sure they would uave let me know where i stand and would make just about ANY srt vehicle look like poo poo (exception : viper) but it still would have been fun. Thats all i wanted to share.

You are fine kid... Hell, unless you are lined up on track next to car you want to race in a controlled start, it's just bullshit bragging rights...lol...enjoy the car...who knows who let off first, or who was realing all the way on it...street racing isn't for everyone... Some people are good at racing, some people aren't, is that the car's fault? Lot of things going on when in a speed contest. Take them to the track in a controlled environment, then you can brag....good luck...

Just to point this out as well. I believe they are two completely different cars. There is a difference between a muscle car and a sports car. Anyone know this? The gto modded will most likely eat an srt6 on the strip. There is no replacement for displacement. However i feel as though the srt6 is a giant on the track and nothing to be taken lightly. Just different applications depending on your driving style. My buddies charger runs mid 11 in the 1/4, but we both know he would die on a track. Just a fact of life. Im just happy happy i can move out when i want, but if i need to be nimble this car will really show its true colors. Those are just my opinions though.

That is why we have different classes at the race track. You line up against something your equal. If you spend enough $$$$$ you can run as fast as you want. The SRT6 does just fine against it's own. Modded 350 chevys will out run us...but older 350/300hp chevys won't. Just depends. Like I said, a lot of things are going on when racing, especially on the street. Be safe...have fun with the car.

That is hardly a true statement. The current F1 engines, 2.4 liters, V8, and normally aspirated put out about 720 HP at a regulated max of 18,000 rpm, maybe 800 hp at 20,000 rpm. The old 3 liter SC'd V10's reached 1,000 hp.

There are many more engines that are small in displacement that put out a lot of power. So displacement is not the be all and end all as technology trumps it.

Yep, and that's all anyone should have taken it for. What you and your car did on that day against that guy in his car. Nothing else matters, really. Everyone else can bench race all freaking day long and guess what? Nobody ever wins a bench race. It's a bunch of BS is all. I've seen so many cars at the drag strip beat cars that the magazines say are faster. But nobody ever goes to a drag strip, loses the run, then gets handed the win because some magazine said the other car should be faster.

Whenever these discussions come up everyone always forgets the single biggest variable - the driver. Hell, even on a road course I've been held up in the twisties by a Mistubishi Evo and a 300ZX Twin Turbo. No, not in my Crossfire, but in my PT Cruiser. Impossible!!! they cried. I call BS!!! they implored. You're smoking crack!!! they admonished. No, the other guys were simply two of the worst drivers I've ever seen. Thought my instructor was going to bust a gut he was laughing so hard.

Calm down boys. Take two closely matched cars on paper and the driver variables can make it either a great race or a blow out on either side. Straight line or twisty, it doesn't matter.
