You should be able to see any water by looking between the rear of the foam cover and the steel wall. It is probably on the right hand side of the car like ours are. Check with the fob when you are in there.
If there is water, get it out and find the source of the leak.

They affect the lighting and security if they are faulty, they are not cheap either.

The length of time may be due to a leak in the hoses somewhere making it longer to get up to pressure, normally leaks mean they do not work but a small leak may just mean it takes longer to operate.
Oh bugger not something else to worry my already panicking self....it's aged me about 10 years buying a bloody xf lol, can I just not use the central locking system & unlock manually? Or do you have to use the key buttons to unlock & perform certain operations, I don't mind unlocking via key if it helps prolong the pump.
Once the dealer has sorted other issues with the car, tomorrow hopefully I'm seriously considering a part exchange already....been a warning I think
