My guess is the security system has kicked in, that is the light that says the system is armed. The car will not start with it armed. Look in the trunk and see if there is water in the passenger side well where the air pump/security module is.
Lift the carpet and look down the front face of the foam block.
That's a good place to start.

By front face I mean toward the car front.
