You can buy these types of cars for peanuts all day long, because they have a salvaged title, hence resale would be even worse than an XF normally is. This is exactly what MrMopar is doing, buying cheap, salvaged cars with as little damage as possible, but he is not fixing them because of the titling issues. It is easy to say that it would not be a big deal and would be a lot less than they quote, but when you factor in shitty resale, HUNTING to find certain parts (if you can get them at all), and the literally hundreds of hours would have in the reapir, it starts looking a lot more like reality setting in...
Hence the different strokes for different folks. Resale doesn't fall into my concern catagory. 91 Miata taken off the showroom floor and still can use as my daily driver should I desire. My crossfire will be around a long time unless she's wiped out beyond recognition. Then their is my mom.. new Camary every 2-3 years. Now since a "qualified" insurance adjuster is looking at new - not used.. I'd say the prices would take a big jump wouldn't you?
