Default Re: what's up with th 6-speed ?

I have a six speed and have no problems with it at all. All shifts are clean and direct. I get no pop out and reverse never fails.

With the six speed when I shift from 1st to 2nd I just keep a wee bit of pressure (palm) towards me (driver side) as I am making the shift, (the same pressure is used if downshifting from 2nd to 1st). From 2nd to 3rd I use no pressure as my gearbox seems to want to go into 3rd from Second without any application of pressure. Nice. 3rd to 4th is the same simply a pull back, no pressure.

Going from 4th to 5th I use palm pressure applied towards the passenger side as I am making the shift. Likewise from 5th to 6th.

That is the technique I use and it works very well and the trannie likes it. You do not have to use much pressure on the shifter BTW.
