I did it laying on my side across the driver's seat. My key would not turn, had the car towed home, tore the dash apart, and tried ONE LAST TIME to turn the key - and it turned. So I had to do no drilling, just pressed in on the pin near the column and rocked the assembly out of there and fixed it on the bench.

Lucky you. I can't get my key to turn more than a half inch. It sucks because it seems like im drilling aimlessley. I don't understand though how you are able to pull the spring loaded trim piece back that is coving the pin; press the pin and ROCK the assembly out all at the same time. It feels like i need 4 arms. My pin sort of presses in a bit, so I was trying to bypass the drilling but I just cent seem to press it AND rock the assembly all at the same time.
