I'll agree that parts for the engine/transmission shouldn't be an issue, due to the Mercedes link, but having waited over six weeks last year to get a key, which is to be fair, is an everyday item, does give me case for concern. I was told by someone at Fiat Head Office, that they had one customer waiting almost four months for a replacement key with the vehicle off the road for the entire time, due to difficulty locating some spares.
As the model is no longer in production and with little factory support due to the change from Mercedes to Fiat partnership, I cannot see the availability of spares improving and our reliance on breakers to source some of the more rare components increasing.
O/T a little here -but wouldn't it have been easier for the person above to get an SLK key set from a dealer and/or breaker and do it that way?
