SL-55 Nightmare... Install pointers??
For starters, the mounting tabs are a PITA... But that's a minor issue.
When you get the Y-pipe mated to the boxes, the inlet (to the supercharger) is at the wrong angle... Rubber opening is at a -45° and the s/c inlet is at a -70°. So, I worked backwards and secured the y-pipe to the s/c inlet, and THEN attempted to attach the boxes to the Y-pipe. The hoses and airbox exits are ovals, so it only works at one angle. Once the boxes were mated to the Y-pipe, I went to secure the boxes to the motor mounts and *POP* the inlet snaps off again because you have to bend the Y-pipe, putting pressure on it.
What's worse, is the worm-clamp won't tighten past a certain point, else it simply snaps and you lose all tension. Basically, you can mount the Y-pipe to the inlet, or the Y-pipe to the boxes, but not both. And I don't have the warm-fuzzies about going down the interstate and having the Y-pipe fall off, allowing the s/c to ingest unfiltered air.
The poor clip fitment is the least of my worries... the Y-pipe is my biggest concern.
So, gurus, where am I screwing up? SL55 veterans welcomed...
