But I us gallon is about 4/5 of an imperial gallon
I can't read my conversion sheet.
I used to have to do this a lot as Canada used Imperial measurements and we had to convert volumes to the US standard.

1 Imperial gallon = 160 imperial fl ozs (exactly) = 277.41945 cu ins
1 US gallon = 128 US fl ozs. (exactly) = 231 cu ins (exactly)

So, an Imperial fl oz = 277.41945 ÷ 160 = 1.7330 cu ins
a US fl oz = 231 ÷ 128 = 1.8047 cu ins

Thus an Imperial fl oz =1.7330 ÷ 1.8047 = .9608 US fl oz.

You Sir are correct again.

So we can say the US and Imperial fluid ounces are roughly the same when cooking.
