I used to have to do this a lot as Canada used Imperial measurements and we had to convert volumes to the US standard.
1 Imperial gallon = 160 imperial fl ozs (exactly) = 277.41945 cu ins
1 US gallon = 128 US fl ozs. (exactly) = 231 cu ins (exactly)
So, an Imperial fl oz = 277.41945 ÷ 160 = 1.7330 cu ins
a US fl oz = 231 ÷ 128 = 1.8047 cu ins
Thus an Imperial fl oz =1.7330 ÷ 1.8047 = .9608 US fl oz.
You Sir are correct again.
So we can say the US and Imperial fluid ounces are roughly the same when cooking.

It is only legal in 2001 and newere cars.
The long and short of it is, I'm not sure how the station owner determined it would only have 3.5% but my guess is he doesn't know what he's talking about. A 10% volume blend is 3.5% percent oxygen by weight, so I think he is confused about what he told you. Also, right now, ethanol is cheaper than gasoline -- and therefore it is cheap octane -- so I would expect it would be a 10% blend.

He only said that he didn't know if maybe all 93 had lower ethanol or just theirs.
I had learned that it is an octane enhancer after posting in this thread, just today. I just wonder now if the stickers are accurate.
