Premium Gas Question
Last year I drove to Fla. And back. I averaged about 28mpg. Look at this way you're going toto pay about one penny per mile to put the good stuff in. $10.00 on a thousand mile trip. If that's a deal breaker you have bought the wrong car. You'll forget all about mph when you get on the road.

I use Shell V-Power 93 octane to help prevent any kind of knock whatsoever. The cars may adapt, but I don't take any chance of damaging the engine. When I race at the track, I always add a gallon or 2 of 100 octane race fuel to be certain that the timing isn't being pulled also. I want the car to be 100 percent all the time.
You'd have to be a fool to run a lower octane fuel in these cars! Don't ever wonder why something went wrong with your engine if you do. Like it has been mentioned, the car requires 91 octane, so run that or higher. Our babies only see 93 octane running through their veins, unless I have a few extra dollars on the way to the track to hang with Neal and Chuck!

My estimate is that its going to cost me $200.00 for gas at 21 mpg? Does that sound realistic?
When I was driving across Michigan weekly to Detroit and Midland, I used midrange. Now, with a lot less miles per month, I stick with premium. MPG has not differed between the two. Don't use regular and if the sticker hurts, fill it up when it is half empty.

By all means correct me if I am wrong someone.
While on this subject, Think U.S.A. Gas is expensive, in Britian gas is approx 3.45 pounds/litre which equates to 12.45 Dollar/gallon. Maybe one of you U.K. members could confirm that.

Not quite that expensive yet £1.45 per litre is about average for premium unleaded . Give it a few more days and it may be upto the £3.45 a litre the way things are going over here

I gallon (Imp) = 192.15 (US) fl.oz.
1 gallon (US) = 160 (US) fl.oz. (exactly) = 3.785412 liters
Difference = 32.15 (US) fl.oz. or .7607 liters
For all intents the UK gallon is 1/5 larger than the US gallon.
£1.45/liter in the UK = £5.49/US gallon =(US)$8.69/US gallon (US $ = £1.583)
Canada premium gas is about $1.51/liter = (US) $5.72/gallon (US $ = Ca $)

Hey, this seems like a good thread to bring this up. This weekend at the DRagon I filled up twice at Deals Gap (93 octane was something like $4.35 a gallon).
Anyway, his 87 octane was 'up to 10%' ethanol. But his 93 was 'up to 3.5%' ethanol.
Is this normal? Is all 93 that low in ethanol? I am thinking so, might be why pumps say "up to 10%"???
Just wondering.

I Imperial gallon (UK) is 8 pints at 19.999 (alright 20) fluid ounces = 160 oz
To complicate matters more I imp fl oz is 0.9607 us fl oz ????.......... :O)
But I us gallon is about 4/5 of an imperial gallon

The long and short of it is, I'm not sure how the station owner determined it would only have 3.5% but my guess is he doesn't know what he's talking about. A 10% volume blend is 3.5% percent oxygen by weight, so I think he is confused about what he told you. Also, right now, ethanol is cheaper than gasoline -- and therefore it is cheap octane -- so I would expect it would be a 10% blend.
