So here is my horror story. I have an '05 na roadster with 71,000 miles. I was going to see a friend who lives about 35 miles away. I was on the Interstate doing 70 mph when I noticed my tach dropped to 0, I was going down a mountain at the time, so I didn't loose speed right away. After a couple of seconds I realized the car had cut off. I was able to roll about 2 miles to the bottom of an exit ramp and shut everything off. I tried to start it a couple of times, it turned over, but wouldn't start. I got out & checked under the hood to see if I could see any noticable problem, everything looked fine. I was all ready to call a tow truck, but decided to try the starter again & it started, but the check engine light came on. I drove the last 15 miles to my friends house, he lives down the street from an Advance Auto, so I went there and got them to check the code. It was "crankshaft Position sensor fail". I had never read this thread, but remembered people on this site mentioning this as a common problem. So thank you CrossfireForum.org. I bought a sensor from Advance Auto for $60, then drove the 35 miles home with no problem. When I got home I read this thread and decided to order the Bosch part from ebay since the Advance Auto one was made in Taiwan. (Thanks for that bit of info also guys). Hopefully I won't have any problems til the part comes in.
