I checked out Angie's list when it was fairly new and they wanted a subscription fee so I never really went any further than that. At that time, I looked at it like the BBB, which I have no use for either now.

When I had my house roof replaced, I did all the research for the 3rd generation company that I hired to do the job, including a perfect score with the BBB. How could I go wrong?

2 years later, my shingles started coming up and off in mild wind storms. The owner of the company claimed it was manufacturer defective material and told me to file a claim with them. I did just that and after another 6 months, the shingle manufacturer sent out a rep to show me exactly how the roof was installed improperly. I filed an arbitration claim against the installation company and the they never showed for the hearing. Turns out they closed the business the day before the hearing. No recourse.

IMO It doesn't matter how good a score you have with any of the reporting agencies, you may be the first to get the shaft as I did.

All I've seen of the BBB is a paid endorsement. Had a transmission service-repair done. They decided it needed more than quoted and charged accordingly. BBB basically said sux to be you, pay them if you want the car.
