There is no hissing noise. The key does turn but does not unlock the car. There is simply no response from the key fob whatsoever. No lights are activated when the key fob is used, either.

The key problem must be the lock module not working or the lock is not connecting to it physically somehow.
No lights or hissing with the fob buttons depressed means I would give my vote to the security module failure due to water.
