I can imagine why 12mm bolts are used. The caliper is mounted further out from the center, causing a greater torsional force. Has anyone ever thought of drilling and tapping the mounting bossed to the larger bolt size?
actually it was an upgrade by mercedes for all their cars except the slk. they went to 12mm mount bolts and 14mm lugbolts when the v8 went s/c. the 10mm bolts will be fine and allow you to go back to oem if decide to sell the car and part the mods out.
les i dont have any calipers for sale. they were sold to miker a couple months ago
the rotors i used are oem 2005 slk55 which run about 375$ a set. racing brake will build you a set of rear 2 piece rotors with a brinnell hardness of 277 for about 1200$. lighter also. i have them on the front but oem on the rear for now
