I discovered my projector lenses are grubby, turns out this is burned on dirt from the air in the lamp units.... im gonna strip the lamps to polish the lenses if i can..... apparantly the output will ne better and the light pattern kinder on oncoming traffic.... will advise :-)

The housings are made to take 55 watts all night long.

I can think of 2 reasons HID's are legally limited to 35 watts.

1) > 35 watts throws too much light in the eyes of oncoming traffic.
2) > 55 watts could cause damage to the housing, lens etc.

But, I think you know this already...
